Estelle in Epic Seven RTA: The Brick Wall Next to Byblis

Estelle dropped into Epic Seven RTA on April 30th. Two days, 22,776 picks, and one very obvious story later — let's get into it.
She's not the next
Perfumer Byblis. At 53.5% WR she's solid, top ten, but nowhere near the kind of WR that makes opponents flinch. Her preban rate sits at 0.01%. Nobody is wasting a ban on her. What she is, is the most stubbornly one-note new Epic Seven hero we've seen this season — and the single best partner
Perfumer Byblis has had since launch.

Estelle's Build
Counter + Immunity is the consensus build at 35% usage and 55.4% WR. The Immunity isn't optional — without it,
Perfumer Byblis just opens the game by slapping a 40% injury on
Estelle and the rest of the match plays itself. Protection + Immunity quietly matches it at 55.3% WR if you'd rather trade counter pressure for an extra anti-cleave layer.
Bastion of Perlutia and 3F are putting up cute numbers (60% and 58.5% WR) on tiny sample sizes. Worth keeping an eye on. For now though, run With a Little Friend like everyone else and stop overthinking it.
Best Partners
Perfumer Byblis. It's Byblis.
7,157 games together at 65.4% WR — both the most-picked partner and the highest-WR partner, on a sample five times larger than the next entry. The matchup feels like trying to chip through a wall with a butter knife, and it gets worse under W2 Defense.
Everyone else on the list is a respectable pairing, but the gap to
Perfumer Byblis is real. If you can get both, get both. And if you want a refresher on what makes Byblis the single best enabler in the meta right now, we broke down her launch in detail here.
Most Drafted Alongside
The most common teammates by raw volume are the meta's usual suspects:
Perfumer Byblis (7,157)
Boss Arunka (5,465)
Lone Crescent Bellona (3,687)
Genesis Ras (2,815)
Salome (2,576)
Players are mostly slotting
Estelle into whatever they were already running. Only the
Perfumer Byblis pairing shows up as something people are actively building toward.
Estelle Counters
Mort is the hard one — 833 games, 43.9% WR for
Estelle. Everything else at meaningful sample size is roughly a coinflip.
How People Are Drafting Estelle
Three out of four
Estelle picks happen in the first pair. She doesn't need information — her job is the same regardless of what the opponent draws — so players just throw her down early and let the enemy figure out the response.
That's also why nobody's banning her. She's predictable, and predictable means it's usually more valuable to spend the ban somewhere flexible.
Performance by Warfare Rule
| Warfare Rule | Win Rate |
|---|---|
| W1 - Offense | 49.7% |
| W2 - Defense | 54.8% |
| W3 - Resistance | 54.9% |
| W4 - Support | 51.3% |
Slow the game down (W2 Defense, W3 Resistance) and
Estelle thrives. Under W1 Offense a chunk of her kit just turns off — her built-in damage share stops mattering once warriors are ignoring it — and she drops to a coinflip. No surprises.
What the AI Noticed
We retrained the predictor and guider on the post-launch dataset and shipped them today. Two findings from poking at the new models:
Estelle's closest "lookalike" is exactly who you'd guess
The predictor builds an internal map where heroes that play similar roles end up near each other — purely from win/loss patterns, not from anyone telling it what their kits do.
Estelle's nearest neighbors:
| Rank | Hero | Similarity |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0.578 | |
| 2 | 0.382 | |
| 3 | 0.370 |
All tank knights, and the clear standout is
Unbound Knight Arowell, sitting way ahead of the rest. Honestly no idea how the AI figured out these two share a kit pattern (damage sharing) purely from win/loss data — but here we are :))
The AI doesn't draft her like you do
We let the AI draft against itself for 150 matches.
Estelle is almost always sitting in its recommendation list — she's a hero it constantly considers picking. What changes through the draft is how badly it wants her:
| Turn | How much the AI likes Estelle |
|---|---|
| First pick | 14% |
| Mid draft (T3-T4) | 31% |
| Final picks (T8-T9) | 39% |
Early on she's a fine option, but the AI usually has something more impactful to grab first — a real damage dealer, a stronger threat, a draft-shaping pick. By the last picks, with most of those bigger options already off the board,
Estelle becomes the thing it wants most. She closes the comp.
Humans do the opposite, slamming her down in the first pair 75% of the time. The AI's take: lock in your win condition first, then drop
Estelle in to wall up whatever you built. Worth trying before you instinctively first-pick her.
Worth thinking about next time you're about to declare her on turn one.
When the AI does commit to her, two teammates dominate:
Perfumer Byblis (9 appearances)
Ruele of Light (9 appearances)
You can poke at the model yourself on the Epic Seven draft page.
TL;DR
- With a Little Friend, Counter + Immunity. Don't fight it.
- Pair her with
Perfumer Byblis whenever the draft allows. 65% WR over 7K games isn't an accident. - You probably pick her too early. The AI thinks she's a closer, not an opener — try it.
